This memoir of a distinguished professor takes the reader through his years arriving in Chicago from Muskogee, Oklahoma and growing up in Bronzeville. Motivated by his family and environment, Charles V. Hamilton achieved and became a full professor at several colleges. His last post was at Columbia University from 1969 until his retirement in 1997. He served in the community and in apartheid South Africa as an civil rights activist. The story of this remarkable life journey is told by a series of vignettes.
